PATRICK'S DAY PARADE "This is a fabulous day long celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Pretty much every bar and business on the block participates and it's a huge party. The parade is really cool and is a nice follow up to Mardi Gras. What we're watching: The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade organizers tell us they are still working with the city to find a new date to roll. After all, it’s New Orleans, and we love to parade! Our annual St. Patrick’s Day Parades are considered another opportunity for family and friends to get together and enjoy a day outdoors. It seems as if the entire city is on the street with picnic baskets, umbrellas, and their recreational vehicles – enjoying one of the biggest street New Orleans has plenty of Irish roots, so the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day (Monday, March 17, 2025) is an important one for the city of New Orleans. Several parades kick off, including the infamous Irish Channel Parade, where float riders pass cabbages to the screaming crowds. About the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade The parade begins on the corner of Felicity and Magazine streets around 1:00 PM (or a little earlier, depending on when mass ends). Floats, marching bands, and revelers dressed in green parade up Jackson Avenue, turning onto St. Charles Avenue, Louisiana Avenue, and back onto Magazine Street. The route is subject to change. The Krewe of Argus has been rescheduled to parade alongside St. Patrick Metairie Road Parade. The approximately 3.6 mile route starts on 41st Street and Severn Avenue, proceeding south on Severn and turning left on Metairie Road. Gretna Irish-Italian Parade. Sunday, March 10 at Gretna - 12 noon. The City of Gretna's Irish-Italian Heritage Parade & Events begins at Burmaster & Franklin Streets and ends at 4th Street & Huey P. Long Ave. Music & free beer while supplies last. The annual downtown St. Patrick's Day parade begins on the corner of Burgundy and Piety in the Bywater, proceeds roughly up Royal, across Esplanade to Decatur, up Canal to Bourbon.
